Expert ‘can’t believe’ what he’s heard about Daniel Levy at Tottenham stadium – ‘it’s a surprise’
Tottenham fans’ recent chants against the club’s hierarchy were a “damning” indictment of the club’s lack of progress.
That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Large sections of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium turned on Daniel Levy and ENIC during their side’s 2-0 loss to Aston Villa on Sunday (1 January).
Fans chanted “get out of our club” as Antonio Conte’s side failed to lay a glove on Villa.
Wenham was stunned to hear those chants in the ground for the first time.
“For the first time in the ground, there were chants about getting the chairman out, the investment group out,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“That was quite damning really. Yes, there have been small social media groups before, some fans have tried to get things going.
“I’ve never actually heard it vocally in the ground until yesterday, I still can’t believe it, it was a bit of a surprise. I think the reasons why are three-fold.
“The form of the team coming into the last two games, Arsenal’s form and the way Liverpool wrapped up the signing of Cody Gakpo.
“Tottenham, historically, are not readying bids and ready to make early-window deals. So seeing another club we are supposed to be competing with getting a singing done that early, I think that added to the frustration.
“There was a strange feeling in the ground, as I say, I haven’t heard those chants before. I hadn’t felt that before.”

Spurs sit fifth in the Premier League after their latest loss.
Tottenham are next in action against Crystal Palace on Wednesday (4 January).
