Expert issues 'huge' Calvin Ramsay verdict after Liverpool announcement
Calvin Ramsay has “a huge job on his hands” to succeed at Liverpool, according to Alan Hutton.
However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Spurs and Rangers defender backed the 18-year-old to make an impact on Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Liverpool confirmed (19 June) the signing of Ramsay from Aberdeen in a deal which could rise to £6.5million.
The right-back has put pen to paper on a five-year contract on Merseyside.
He is the Reds’ third signing of the summer window following the arrivals of Darwin Nunez from Benfica and Fabio Carvalho from Fulham.
When asked by Football Insider if the youngster had what it takes to be a success in the Premier League, Hutton said: “There’s no doubt he has potential, we’ve seen it.

“For one so young to play with such freedom and energy, it’s like a breath of fresh air.
“Obviously he’s got a huge job on his hands to try and oust Trent [Alexander-Arnold] from the starting 11 but I’m pretty sure that he will feel confident within himself.
“He’s got a lot to learn, there’s no doubting that.
“But I think working un Jurgen Klopp, he’ll be managed in the right fashion and the right way.
“So he’s in a good place right now.”
The Scotland under-21 international made 33 appearances for Aberdeen across all competitions last season, scoring once and providing nine assists.
Ramsay has European experience, making six appearances and providing four assists in Aberdeen’s Europa Conference League campaign.
