Expert issues 'incredible' Bruno Fernandes claim after what he's heard at Man United
Bruno Fernandes’ recent quotes on Erik ten Hag make “incredible” reading for Man United fans.
That’s according to former Rangers and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the midfielder’s recent comments.
On 20 September, The Athletic released an in-depth interview with Fernandes, 28, in which he discussed Erik ten Hag’s attempts to change the team’s style.
The Portugal star, talking about when Ten Hag made his side run 13km after losing to Brentford earlier this season, admitted “players do not like to run” before claiming he and his teammates “have to follow the rules”.
McLeish insists the comments are “incredible”.
“It’s back to basics, that is incredible to hear at a club like Man United,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.

“Maybe he [Ten Hag] thought a lot of players had lost their way. Rangnick would have come in and maybe he didn’t start well but he couldn’t do everything in a short space of time.
“In fact, you had people saying ‘why did they bring in Ralf Rangnick?’. It was interim and they now seem to be going in the right direction with Ten Hag.
“People were saying he might only last ten weeks and to be fair to him you have seen the resilience of the guy and his coaches and how they have turned things around.”
Man United lost their first two Premier League games before going on a four-game winning run.
They are next in action against Man City on 2 October.
