Expert issues scathing verdict on Tottenham bid for Richarlison after £51m update
Tottenham should not pay £51million to sign Richarlison from Everton.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
According to The Athletic‘s David Ornstein (11 June), Spurs are interested in signing Richarlison, 25, this summer.
The Toffees are said to want more than £51million for the Brazil international.
Antonio Conte is reshaping his squad ahead of the 2022-23 campaign, in which his side will return to the Champions League.
Wenham insists there are better ways to spend the money Everton are demanding for their talisman.

“You are talking about £51million, to me, he isn’t a £50million player,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I appreciate that Everton spent big to sign him from Watford. I appreciate that he plays for Brazil and scored 10 league goals last year.
“It’s just that I don’t enjoy watching him as a player, I really don’t. The contact diving, even in his own box.
“He scores goals, can cover a couple of different positions, has Premier League experience and I know Barcelona wanted him a few years ago.
“But, for me, if we are going to spend £51million, I would rather it was spent on a left-sided centre-half before going for Richarlison.
“There are many strikers I would prefer.”
Richarlison scored 10 goals in 30 Premier League appearances during the 2021-22 campaign.
He joined the Toffees in July 2018 for a fee that could rise to £50million, as per BBC Sport.
