Expert issues three-word verdict on Albian Ajeti returning to Celtic amid ‘big’ claim

Frank McAvennie has insisted there is “no chance” Albian Ajeti will return to Celtic this month.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said the pressure at Parkhead was too much for Ajeti and is certain he will not be back.

As relayed by the Daily Record (18 January), the 25-year-old has kickstarted his career on loan at Austrian side Strum Graz.

The Switzerland international struggled to hit the ground running at Parkhead after his £5million move from West Ham in 2020.

The striker fell further down the pecking order last season following the arrivals of Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis.

But as Giakoumakis looks set to quit the Glasgow giants this month, it could provide an opportunity for Ajeti to break into the first team when he returns from loan.

When asked if the Celts would bring back Ajeti, McAvennie told Football Insider:Not a chance.

You need to be a certain kind of animal to play for big clubs like Celtic and Rangers because the demand from the supporters is unbelievable. You have either got it or you have not.

Celtic

He could not even get a game for West Ham and then Celtic bought him. I have no idea why they bought him. He looked alright.

The money he was on was incredible but he was lazy. It might just be that the pressure got to him. Now the pressure is off him and he is enjoying it.
