Expert: Josip Juranovic may now stay at Celtic after Alexandro Bernabei news
The signing of Alexandro Bernabei may have no bearing on the future of Celtic star Josip Juranovic.
That’s according to former Rangers and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Hoops’ transfer business.
On Thursday (30 June) Celtic announced the signing of Argentine left-back Alexandro Bernabei, 21, their first senior signing of the summer.
The arrival comes amid speculation over Josip Juranovic’s future, with Fabrizio Romano reporting he is expected to leave Celtic this summer amid interest from Premier League clubs.
However, McLeish insists Celtic need plenty of full-backs to choose from considering their importance in Ange Postecoglou’s system.
“They have got a lot of full-backs don’t they, that is a really good point,” McLeish told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild
“Postecoglou has placed a lot of importance on the full-backs because they come inside. That was a real problem for them because they were being exploited down the flanks.
“They have sorted that out now and that’s down in no small way to the training. So it’s another full-back, which they need with the way they play, with a great name as well.
“It’s nearly Bernabeu, let’s hope he can live up to that.”

Juranovic joined Celtic from Legia Warsaw after only spending one full season at the Polish club.
The right-back only joined the Hoops in the summer of 2021 and became a key player during the 2021-22 campaign, making 35 appearances in all competitions.
