Expert lambasts 'disastrous' Tottenham after what he's just seen in person

Tottenham were unlucky not to take anything from their game against Liverpool despite a “disastrous” first half.

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Tottenham lost 2-1 to Liverpool on Sunday as they dropped to fourth in the Premier League.

Tottenham have now conceded the first goal in 10 of their last 13 matches in all competitions.

Wenham, who attended the game, was left fuming with his side’s first-half performance.

“Funny game, funny. We had our usual disastrous first half and that killed us in the end,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Maybe it is harsh to say disastrous, the scoreline was disastrous but the performance actually wasn’t. On either side of the two goals, we actually created a number of chances.

“The style of play and in terms of us going for it, we were better than we were in that first half against Bournemouth or Marseille.

“The issue is, giving a team like Liverpool a head start, it’s far more difficult to overhaul compared to a Bournemouth or a Marseille.

“We just left ourselves with far too much to do and you can’t legislate for the mistake Eric Dier made for Salah’s goal.

“I left the game feeling like the players had given their all and we were unlucky in the end. We had them totally penned in during the second half.

“We had them. With a little bit more time maybe we could have done more.”
