Expert makes ‘breathtaking’ Celtic claim amid ‘unbelievable’ Jota twist

Frank McAvennie has hailed Ange Postecoglou for the “unbelievable” turnaround at Celtic.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker insisted Postecoglou should take the credit for the increase in attendance this season.

According to FOX Sports, as relayed by Everything Celtic (7 January), the Celts had the eighth highest attendance in the whole of Europe during 2022.

The average attendance at a Celtic game was 58,840 supporters per game.

The Hoops are currently top of the Scottish Premiership and have won 19 of their 21 Premiership games this season.

They are also nine points clear of Glasgow rivals Rangers.

The Australian took over from Neil Lennon after missing out on a historic tenth league title in a row.

He managed to win the league and the League Cup in the 2021/22 season.

Postecoglou’s side also booked their place in the League Cup final with a 2-0 win over Kilmarnock on Saturday (14 January).

As quoted by BBC Sport after the game, the Aussie boss insisted his players deserved credit for managing to “find a way” regardless of the challenge.

When asked if the manager should take credit for the increased attendance after turning around Celtic’s fortunes McAvennie told Football Insider: “Of course,

“Celtic have always had a good support. It just was not right the way things were getting played out under different managers.

“Since Ange has come in it has been nothing short of breathtaking to watch.

“The pace and the movement gets me out of my seat. He is able to leave players like Jota out, it is unbelievable.”
