Expert on Anthony Gordon signing for Tottenham as talks confirmed
Paul Robinson has claimed Anthony Gordon will be able to leave Everton for Tottenham or Chelsea regardless of whether he signs a new deal at Goodison Park.
The former England goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 21-year-old must now live up to his “fantastic reputation” in order to tempt a big-six side to come back in for him in the future.
As quoted by the Liverpool Echo (18 September), manager Frank Lampard confirmed the club are “speaking” to Gordon’s representatives about a new contract.
Football Insider revealed last month (28 August) that Chelsea had launched a player-plus-cash bid for the winger worth £85million – but the winger remained at Goodison Park past the 1 September deadline.
Tottenham were also interested in the England Under-21 international, whose current deal runs until June 2025.
Robinson suggested Gordon’s price could be inflated in future windows if he signs a new contract at Everton.

He told Football Insider: “I think if Chelsea and Spurs are interested then he’ll be able to leave regardless of a new deal.
“It’ll just cost them that bit more.
“For himself, he deserves a financial reward because he’s playing well – he’s one of Everton’s best players.
“I think he will sign a new deal.
“For me, he’s still got a lot to do to live up to the expectations behind his fantastic reputation.
“Everyone can say what a fantastic player he is, but he’s got to get the goals and put in the performances to reach that level.
“That’s the only way he’ll get that move.”
