Expert says Newcastle could sign Yoane Wissa and keep Alexander Isak in stunning twist
Newcastle United could sign Brentford star Yoane Wissa and keep hold of Alexander Isak in a stunning twist this summer.
Newcastle have been attempting to sign Wissa throughout the transfer window, having seen an improved £40million bid rejected for his services on Wednesday (20 August).
Wissa took the unusual step of unfollowing Brentford on Instagram earlier this week as he looks to force through a move following Newcastle’s interest.
Meanwhile, Isak has his heart set on joining Liverpool before the transfer window closing on 1 September despite Eddie Howe’s side insisting he won’t be leaving St James’ Park.
The Reds have seen a bid worth £110million plus add-ons rejected for the 25-year-old striker, with Newcastle valuing him at around £150million.

Yoane Wissa could make Brentford U-turn
This article contains exclusive comment from Keith Wyness, former Everton, Aston Villa and Aberdeen CEO.
Isak released a shock statement about his Newcastle situation on Tuesday (19 August), insisting promises had been “broken” by the club and they had “lost” his trust.
The Sweden international wasn’t named in Howe’s squad for their goalless draw against Aston Villa on Saturday (16 August), while Wissa didn’t make the trip for Brentford’s 3-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest on Sunday (17 August).
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness said: “I think Wissa to Newcastle could end up getting done, and I think they may well do that.
“They’d obviously like to wait for the last minute and see where Isak sits on the whole situation. It may well be that they may take Wissa and still hang on with Isak as well.
“I don’t think they necessarily need the money to make the two things work, so I think it’s more a case of timing to see what is going to happen with Isak.
“Brentford are going to do all they can to hang on to him, but they’ve got an unhappy player as well.
“But that can be resolved quickly. Wissa comes out and puts a whole new load of pictures on his social media, all happy smiles at the Brentford stadium and everybody’s happy again.
“It’s all posturing just now, and it’ll all come down to that domino effect of money that’s going to be going around the game, so let’s just keep following the money.
“That’s going to be where I think the answer will be.”

Newcastle response to Kieran Trippier offer revealed
In terms of other transfer activity, former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider Newcastle are likely to reject offers for Kieran Trippier despite interest from Monaco.
Howe’s side are keen to keep a strong squad together ahead of their Champions League campaign and feel replacing the 34-year-old right-back could prove difficult.
Trippier played the full 90 minutes in Newcastle’s clash at Villa Park on Saturday.
