Expert slams Tottenham over ‘laughable’ development that will ‘hit fans pockets’
The decision to raise the prices of food and drink at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is “laughable”.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
The Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust responded last Friday (14 January) after the club announced food and drink prices at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium are set to be increased.
The Trust labelled the move as ” insensitive in the extreme” as fans continue to struggle financially as a result of the Covid pandemic.
Wenham was also left furious with the club’s latest move.
“People are struggling,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“When we moved to the new stadium, it was like £4 a pint. The stadium was full of people before the game, it was great.
“This will now be the second time this season the prices have gone up and they went up last season.
“Now the prices are in line with what you would expect in a high street pub.
“The whole beauty of the prices before was that people were coming and spending money that was going back into the club.
“Now, why would anyone choose to drink in the ground over a pub? It seems counterproductive.
“We are generating vast some of incomes through various deals, we aren’t short of a few quid.

“Why do fans have to be hit in their pocket? That’s my real issue.
“At a time when our PR is awful and all over the place, it doesn’t look good. It’s laughable.”
