Expert suggests when Liel Abada will quit Celtic after source’s fall-out reveal
Frank McAvennie has claimed Liel Abada will stay at Celtic for another year.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said Abada is “not the finished article” yet and isn’t ready to leave Parkhead.
On 9 April, sources told this site that the 21-year-old is wanted by multiple Premier League clubs amid tensions with manager Ange Postecoglou.
The Israel international is attracting interest from Southampton and Crystal Palace, as well as other top English outfits.
Lat week (5 April), Football Insider revealed that the Celts are likely to accept a bid of between £7-10million for the winger.
Abada’s current contract runs until 2026 after signing for a reported fee of £3.6m in 2021.
The forward has made 41 appearances across all competitions this season and has scored 12 goals and provided seven assists.
McAvennie insisted Abada needs more time in Glasgow before he’s ready to quit.
“He is not the finished article,” he told Football Insider.
“I can tell why the manager is bringing him in.
“He missed a sitter against Real Madrid, things like that get to you as a player. He has still got a lot to learn, he is only a young boy.

“Do I think he is going to be a top player? Of course I do. I would think another year under Ange would do him the world of good.
“Jota and [Daizen] Maeda are the star players so he is going to struggle to get a game. But he will come on, he will start a lot of games.”
