Expert: Tottenham set for ‘brilliant’ financial boost after journalist’s reveal

Tottenham are set for a “brilliant” financial boost from their pre-season tour of South Korea.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

As per South Korean journalist Sungmo Lee (19 June), Tottenham have sold out the first two games of their pre-season tour.

He claims 66,000 tickets sold out in 25 minutes for the club’s first game, while the 44,000 capacity venue for their second game sold out in 20 minutes.

Wenham was not surprised by this development.

“Our support in South Korea is fantastic,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“We have more supporters in South Korea than we do in England. There was a national poll of 16 to 40-year-olds, basically, 99% of them support Tottenham.

“I’m really pleased things are moving, we have wanted to do this tour for a number of years but obviously that wasn’t possible with COVID.

“It’s nice to reward those fans who so proudly travel over to Tottenham. It’s nice for us to go back and play in front of them.

“We could have sold out 120,000 or a 130,000 stadium, we just have that level of support over there.

“It’s brilliant for the club’s finances but Tottenham’s finances are already pretty strong at this moment in time.”

This summer’s tip will be Spurs’ third visit to South Korea after competing in the Peace Cup in 2005 and taking part in a promotional trip in 2017.

They will also play games against Rangers and Roma before the 2022-23 season starts.
