FA Cup fourth round postponement updates as new snow and ice warnings cover England
The majority of FA Cup matches are under threat of postponement this weekend after the Met Office issued new weather warnings for snow and ice across the country.
FA Cup holders Crystal Palace were knocked out in the last round by non-league side Macclesfield, in one of the biggest shocks ever of the competition’s long history.
The fourth round will commence with two matches on Friday night, with 32 clubs still in the hunt for silverware at Wembley on 16 May.
Hull are set to face Chelsea at the KCOM Stadium first off, with that game and Ipswich’s visit to Wrexham both due to be affected by this weekend’s adverse conditions.
Most teams are in action on both Saturday and Sunday, with the bad weather set to linger and potentially affect several FA Cup games that are taking place across the country.
Saturday FA Cup games set to be affected by snow and ice
The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice, and one solely for ice, which both cover the majority of the UK other than the south-east coast.
Four different Saturday matches are set to fall under the ice warning, including Aston Villa‘s hosting of Newcastle and Liverpool‘s Anfield clash against Brighton.
Icy surfaces are set to cause difficult conditions on the roads, while public transport could be delayed, and fans will need to be careful of slippery surfaces while on foot around the grounds.
| Match | Location | Weather warning |
| Burton vs West Ham | Pirelli Stadium, Burton | Yellow ice warning until 10am Saturday |
| Burnley vs Mansfield | Turf Moor, Burnley | Yellow snow & ice warning until 10am Saturday |
| Man City vs Salford City | Etihad Stadium, Manchester | Yellow snow & ice warning until 10am Saturday |
| Port Vale vs Bristol City | Vale Park, Stoke-on-Trent | Yellow snow & ice warning until 10am Saturday |
| Southampton vs Leicester | St Mary’s, Southampton | Yellow ice warning until 10am Saturday |
| Aston Villa vs Newcastle | Villa Park, Birmingham | Yellow ice warning until 10am Saturday |
| Liverpool vs Brighton | Anfield, Liverpool | Yellow ice warning until 10am Saturday |
Three more matches, which can be seen above, are set to be covered by the snow and ice warning, which is similarly due to disrupt travel, meaning fans must account for possible delays.
Port Vale saw their League One clash against Wimbledon called off last month, and possible snow in the area may also see their game against Bristol City succumb to the conditions.

Sunday FA Cup games also due to be hit by poor weather conditions
Sunday sees five more FA Cup games take place, but only three of those are due to be affected by the latest Met Office updates.
Stoke host Fulham at the bet365 Stadium, with the poor weather predicted to continue in North Staffordshire and a snow and ice warning in place from Saturday night to Sunday morning.

Leeds fans may have some trouble travelling to Birmingham for their midday kick-off at St Andrew’s, with the same warning set to cover their route to the West Midlands.
Grimsby also welcome Wolves to Blundell Park, with snow and ice set to affect areas close to the stadium, even though the warning ends directly to their north-west, next to Hull.
