Fabio Carvalho tipped to reap rewards from major change as Liverpool pictures emerge – pundit

Kevin Campbell has tipped Liverpool new boy Fabio Carvalho to benefit from the introduction of five substitutes next season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker expects the 19-year-old to be handed a bit-part role by Jurgen Klopp.

Carvalho officially completed a move from Fulham to Liverpool on 1 July.

The attacking midfielder put pen to paper on a five-year contract at Anfield.

As pictured by club media (5 July), Carvalho joined his new teammates at Kirkby on Tuesday as Liverpool’s pre-season training kicked off.

Campbell believes a change in Premier League rules next season will help Carvalho settle into life on Merseyside.

“The five-sub rule will give him more opportunities than he perhaps would have got,” he told Football Insider.

“He will not be a regular starter but I think the talented young man that he is, he will make an impact.

“I think we will see him in cup games and in Premier League games with 20, 25 minutes to go.

“He has got to understand the system, the requirements at this level.

“Carvalho is going from a winning Championship team to one of the best teams in Europe.

“Liverpool’s consistency has been incredible. There is levels to this. He is at the very top now.”

Carvalho was one of the standout performers in the Championship last season.

The Portugal under-21 international contributed 10 goals and eight assists in 36 league appearances.
