Celtic defender Jack Hendry played a starring role for Scotland as they beat Hungary 1-0 away in the international friendly on Tuesday.
Matt Phillips scored his first goal on the international scene and Charlie Mulgrew had a penalty saved as the Scot’s dominated throughout in Alex McLeish’s first victory since returning as manager.
And the 22-year-old’s display didn’t go unnoticed as he played with a confidence far beyond his years in a backline that was rarely troubled by the Hungarian’s during the victory.
Hendry has enjoyed a meteoric rise to stardom, and having moved to Parkhead in the January transfer window from Dundee, he has benefited no-end under the leadership of Brendan Rodgers.
Despite having only made six outings for the Hoops since his switch, his Northern Irish manager has shown faith in the former Wigan defender and even selected him for the Old Firm derby victory at Ibrox earlier in the month.
Celtic and Scotland fans were eager to remark on Hendry’s mature performance against Hungary and there was even one who stated that the Scot was better than his English counterpart John Stones.

Well played Jack – you and McKenna looked as if you’d been together for a few seasons, not just playing together for the first time. Here’s to more caps – from a Scotland and Gers fan👍
