'Class', 'Legend in the making' - Celtic fans rave about one player after 5-0 defeat to PSG

By James Black

Celtic kicked off their Champions League campaign with a 5-0 reverse at the hands of bigspending PSG – but fans were quick to take to social media and praise the performance of youngster Anthony Ralston.

The Hoops struggled to land a blow on the French champions as PSG showed their class to breeze by Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Ralston was selected ahead of Israeli Nir Bitton who had filled in previously, meaning Mikael Lustig was shunted in to central defence from his usual right-back spot.

A double from Edinson Cavani and goals from Neymar and Kylian Mbappe as well as an own goal put PSG top of the group after the first round of games.

However, supporters raved about the performance of right-back Ralston, 18, as they claimed he did as well as could have been expected against the world record signing.

Here are some of their comments on Twitter:

Ralston found himself attracting some unwanted attention at the final whistle when Neymar refused to shake hands with the young defender following a flashpoint earlier in the match.

After being booked for simulation, Ralston laughed at Neymar; who responded by reminding the defender of the score.

Celtic also face Anderlecht and Bayern Munich in the group stages of the Champions League and it’ll likely come down to a straight fight between Celtic and Anderlecht to finish third and qualify for the Europa League.

The Hoops currently sit bottom of the group after Bayern defeated Anderlecht 3-0 at the Allianz Arena.

In other Celtic news, the club have launched a £1.5million bid to sign a midfielder from Premier League giants.
