Tottenham face a battle to hang on to wonderkid Reo Griffiths amid a contract stalemate – and fans have taken to Twitter to urge the club to tie him to a new deal.
The Lilywhite Rose Twitter account, which is a reliable source of news about Spurs’ young players and has broken a number of stories in recent months, reported on Tuesday morning that the forward is out of contract on 30 June amid growing speculation he could head for the exit door.

The update from the club insider came after an ESPN FC report that Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig are closely monitoring Griffiths, 17, following his goalscoring exploits at youth team level.
It is said that the driving force behind the interest of Leipzig in the England Under-17 international is their new head of recruitment Paul Mitchell, who was in charge of transfers at Spurs until his exit last year and knows the the player well from his time there.
Griffiths, who has been dubbed the new Harry Kane, has scored 20 goals for Tottenham’s Under-18 side so far this season and enhanced his growing reputation with a hat trick in their Premier League Youth Cup semifinal win over Arsenal last weekend.
Spurs fans reacted to the growing possibility of losing Griffiths in the coming months by urging the club to agree a deal for the rising star before it is too late.
Here is a selection of the best messages on Twitter:

Tottenham are vulnerable to losing the latest star of their prolific academy, which has yielded talents such as Kane, Harry Winks, Andros Townsend, Ryan Mason, Nabil Bentaleb and Tom Carroll in recent years, because Griffiths is yet to turn professional.
It is likely that the club will offer him a contract to secure him on a long-term deal.
