Fares Ghedjemis: Celtic must revive bid for deal as agent hints at potential summer transfer

Fares Ghedjemis was a Celtic target during the winter transfer window, and now this interest should be reignited.

The Frosinone winger has been in fine form this season and has netted 12 goals in the Serie B as he looks to gain promotion.

His form saw Celtic make an approach in January, which was rejected, with the 23-year-old wishing to see out the season at the Italian club.

However, with his agent, Fabrizio Ferrari, hinting that his future may be in question during the summer, the Hoops have to make another attempt to capture the star.

Below, Football Insider has examined why Ghedjemis would be an excellent Celtic transfer in the summer.

Fares Ghedjemis has all the makings of an excellent Celtic player

Ghedjemis has no doubt been one of the best players in Serie B this season.

On the weekend, he found the back of the net once again, scoring in a 3-1 victory over Sudtirol.

However, his agent has since hinted that a departure in the summer could be possible.

Speaking to the Palermo Football Meeting on 24 March via Tuttomercatoweb, he said: “The market rumours about him in January? He really wanted to finish the season with a promotion. This was the boy’s intention, with Frosinone then potentially monetising the operation in the summer.”

Given this information, Celtic have to go all out for his signature, and cannot pass on this potential opportunity.

A lack of attacking threat has been the bane of the Hoops’ team all season, and the club barely laid a glove on Dundee United on the weekend.

Ghedjemis has the ability to solve this issue, and could ensure that Celtic’s attack is competitive again in the next campaign.

What are Celtic’s summer transfer plans?

Football Insider exclusively revealed at the start of March that Celtic were also targeting a centre-back.

The hierarchy feels that this area has been left weakened and are planning to address this issue in the summer.

The backline has also been an issue in recent months, with the defending, in particular, for the Dundee United goals on the weekend, being woeful.

In fact, Celtic are without a clean sheet in their last seven Scottish Premiership matches, something that has no doubt damaged their title ambitions.

However, it remains to be seen who Celtic do target, and if the European competition they end up in has any significant baring.

As it stands, they will have to win the Scottish Cup to at least get Europa League football or they could be sent down in the Conference League.
