Farke’s ‘hell of a statement’ on Leeds player Sam Byram ‘could ruin his career’
Leeds United ace Sam Byram will welcome Daniel Farke’s “hell of a statement” comparing him to Philipp Lahm.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham and Celtic striker Frank McAvennie quipped that likening Byram to the World Cup winner could “ruin his career”.
Ahead of the Whites’ clash against Sunderland, Farke hailed Byram’s versatility and ability to play on both flanks and noted that this was something Lahm mastered during his illustrious career.

Bryam has been fielded solely at left-back this season in 17 appearances despite being a natural right-back but has excelled out of position Road, notching one goal and one assist.
McAvennie praised the 30-year-old, who rejoined the club this summer, and claimed such compliments would be “wonderful” for his confidence.
“It’s great to see a full-back actually playing as a full-back,” he told Football Insider.
“They’re all wingers or midfield players now. Kyle Walker at Man City is an old-school full-back, he doesn’t want to go into midfield!
“But that’s a hell of a statement from Farke – he’s probably ruined his career by saying that he’s like Lahm!
“But Byram’s a decent player and he’ll take it in his stride and see how much of a compliment that is.

“It’s good and it means he’s doing the right thing and he has been very good this season.
“To get a compliment like that is a wonderful thing and will be very helpful.”
