Fashion Sakala told to U-turn on Rangers after journalist’s update – pundit
Frank McAvennie has claimed Fashion Sakala should look to leave Rangers amid reported interest from La Liga clubs.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Celtic striker said Sakala won’t be in the Gers’ first team next season and shouldn’t waste his time training.
According to Mark Hendry, reported in Football Scotland (21 July), Sakala, 25, wants to stay at Ibrox despite interest from La Liga sides Real Sociedad and Celta Vigo.
The Zambian has said he wants to stay at the Glasgow club and fight for a place in the first team.
The forward has three years left on his contract at Ibrox after joining from KV Oostende last summer.
When asked if he thought it was the wrong decision for Sakala to turn down a move away from Rangers, McAvennie told Football Insider: “Rangers are a big club but if you’re not getting a game you have to go.
“You can’t just sit on the bench and then come out and celebrate when they get a good result. You can’t do that.
“I think every good professional will say the same, if you’re not getting a game you have to fight for your place. But you know if you’re going to get in or not. And I don’t think Sakala is going to get in.

“I think I would go. For your own benefit, if there’s no game what’s the point in training all week? You’re just taking the money and not really doing anything. You’re basically making up the numbers at training.
“I would want to go and apply my training somewhere else and try and get in the first team. But I don’t think he’s going to get the chance at Rangers so I don’t know why he’d want to stay. “
