Federico Chiesa reacts to Mo Salah’s message amid Liverpool exit news

Federico Chiesa has reacted to a message from Liverpool teammate Mo Salah amid doubts surrounding the Italian’s future at Anfield.

After joining Liverpool during the same summer as Arne Slot, Chiesa had hoped to enjoy a big impact in Merseyside.

However, the former Juventus man instead made just one Premier League start next season, demonstrating his lowly position in the Reds’ pecking order.

Meanwhile, Slot will add yet more attacking quality to his ranks in the transfer window, as Liverpool close in on Florian Wirtz.

Chiesa reacts to Salah message as Liverpool prepared to accept offers

As Chiesa struggled for game time in the North West last term, Salah instead enjoyed a stellar campaign, notching 34 goals and 23 assists in 52 appearances across all competitions.

Meanwhile, posting on Instagram [18 June], the Egyptian star shared a photo of himself on holiday, which attracted a like from the ex-Juventus man.

Former Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers chief scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider that Liverpool will accept offers of around £10million for Chiesa.

Chiesa has endured a lack of game time at Anfield

Liverpool will have expected to see the 27-year-old hit a new level at Anfield, surrounded by world-class teammates such as the aforementioned Salah.

However, even though Chiesa scored the Reds’ only goal in their 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United in March’s Carabao Cup final, he has seemingly proven to Slot that he does not have what it takes to play regularly for the Merseyside giants.

Therefore, Liverpool would be better off accepting that the Italian’s signature was a mistake, and should allow him to leave Anfield this summer.

Chiesa himself would likely benefit from leaving Merseyside ahead of next season, as he could get himself back into contention for Italy selection before next summer’s World Cup.

Meanwhile, Ben Doak has been tipped to leave the Reds in favour of local rivals Everton in a Liverpool News 247 exclusive.
