Ferdi Kadioglu sends message after devastating Brighton injury blow

Brighton defender Ferdi Kadioglu has taken to social media to release a statement confirming he has undergone surgery after struggling to overcome a toe injury.

The 25-year-old has been out of action since the start of November, with his last appearance coming in Brighton’s 2-1 Premier League defeat to Liverpool.

Kadioglu has since missed Brighton’s last ten games across all competitions, coinciding with a remarkable loss of form for Fabian Hurzeler’s side.

Brighton are without a win in their last seven Premier League games, falling further behind in the race for European qualification, sitting down in tenth with 27 points from their 19 games.

The Turkey international has impressed in the few opportunities he’s had since joining in the summer transfer window, starting nine of his 13 games across all competitions, scoring three goals, and providing zero assists in his 738 minutes of action.

Kadioglu took to Instagram to elaborate on his recent setback, saying: “Over the past few months, I’ve been working hard to recover from an injury I initially believed would heal quickly.

“However, despite my efforts and the support of our medical team, the recovery process has taken longer than expected. After thorough evaluations, we have decided that undergoing an operation on January 2 is the best step forward to ensure a complete recovery.

“While it’s never easy to face such setbacks, I’m fully committed to coming back stronger than ever and help my team by giving everything on the pitch. Thank you for your ongoing support during this period.”

Brighton host Mikel Arteta’s in-form Arsenal side in their first game of 2025 on Saturday (January 4) as they seek to end their seven-game winless streak.

Hurzeler’s side then host Championship side Norwich in their first FA Cup game of the season six days later.
