‘Ferguson doesn’t want Tottenham move’: Major Brighton exit update

Brighton forward Evan Ferguson would be “reluctant” to join Tottenham due to their depth in striker options, according to The Telegraph.

According to the outlet’s website on 27 January, Spurs face difficulties in securing Ferguson’s services with Richarlison now fit again and Dominic Solanke expected to return in a few weeks.

Other clubs, including West Ham, are also interested, with Football Insider revealing that the Hammers are making progress in their pursuit of the 20-year-old.

Additionally, the report suggests that the Lilywhites are aiming to secure ”at least one new outfield signing this month”, with Southampton’s Tyler Dibling being among the players of interest.

Football Insider understands that Ange Postecoglou’s job remains safe for the time being despite yet another defeat, to Leicester, at the weekend.

Tottenham could benefit from the addition of Brighton striker Evan Ferguson

Football Insider Verdict

Football Insider reported back in November that Ferguson is considering leaving Brighton due to limited game time this season, and the situation remains unchanged. The striker has only started two Premier League matches under manager Fabian Hurzeler.

With injuries to key players like Solanke and Richarlison impacting Tottenham’s season, the young striker could be the perfect option to not only revive his own career but also provide a boost to Postecoglou’s squad.

Brighton
Tottenham are the latest team to be linked to Evan Ferguson.

Ferguson made a name for himself during the 2022/23 season, scoring 16 goals and providing five assists in all competitions. Although his tally dropped to six goals in the following season under Roberto De Zerbi and this season he’s struggled to get regular game time.

A loan move to a new environment could be exactly what the Ireland international needs, though it’s understandable why he might be hesitant.

Spurs are currently sitting just 15th and dangerously close to the relegation zone and are in desperate need of reinforcements. Recent losses to teams like Everton and Leicester haven’t helped with fans furious with Postecoglou.

On the other hand, a move to West Ham could offer more opportunities for Ferguson, with Michail Antonio injured and Niclas Fullkrug failing to impress.

Additionally, a reunion with Graham Potter, the manager who brought him to Brighton, could also be an appealing factor.

In other news, Tottenham’s updated stance has been revealed regarding Ange Postecoglou’s potential sacking.
