Fernandes, Foden react to Rashford’s ‘serious’ message amid Man United return claim

Marcus Rashford has provided a new update on his preparations for next season amid uncertainty around his Man United future, with Bruno Fernandes and Phil Foden among those to react.

The attacker found himself exiled at Old Trafford during the first half of last season, and by February he was loaned out to Aston Villa after falling out with manager Ruben Amorim.

His loan spell at Villa Park has now come to an end, meaning the England international is now due to return to the Red Devils’ squad, although speculation continues around a move elsewhere.

Rashford seemingly remains keen on a move to Barcelona, although they have been linked with another left winger in Nico Williams to put that move into doubt.

Meanwhile, it has been suggested that Aston Villa could look to re-sign the Man United man on loan again for the coming campaign.

Marcus Rashford issues new training update

So far, it remains to be seen whether the 27-year-old will secure a move away from Old Trafford for next season.

As a result, it has been claimed that Rashford is planning to report for pre-season training at Man United later this summer, if he has not completed an exit by that point.

The England international has also been keen to show that he is working hard to be ready for the new campaign, even before reporting back to his club.

Taking to Instagram, Rashford posted a series of images of him training during the close season, while adding the caption: “Putting in the work with family and friends before the serious stuff starts back up.”

In response, a number of his Man United teammates including Fernandes, Amad Diallo, Joshua Zirkzee and Tyrell Malacia liked his post.

Other Premier League stars including the Man City duo of Foden and Rico Lewis, Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke, and Aston Villa’s Youri Tielemans, Lucas Digne and Leon Bailey also did the same.

Man United exit still feels the best bet

Football Insider Verdict

While no deal has been sorted yet, it would surely still be best for all concerned if Rashford does leave Old Trafford this summer.

After the way things went last season, there is surely no way he gets back into the Man United side under Amorim, and he will want to play regularly ahead of the World Cup next year.

There is also a clear need for a squad overhaul at Old Trafford after such a poor 2024/25 campaign, and in the circumstances, Rashford is an obvious candidate to be moved on to raise funds for that.

As a result, it surely makes sense for both parties to be working hard on a deal that allows the England international to find a new home sooner rather than later.
