Finance expert: Arsenal set to bank easy £2m after talks reveal
Arsenal could bank an easy “£2million” if they host a mid-season friendly with Barcelona.
That is the view of finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider as Arsenal are in talks with the Spanish giants.
Catalan radio station RAC1 reported earlier this week (12 November) that the two clubs are in negotiations about a game that would take place at the Emirates on 17 December.
Before that, Arsenal are heading to the United Arab Emirates to face Juventus and AC Milan in the Dubai Super Cup.
“If you go back to pre-pandemic figures in terms of matchday income, Arsenal were generating around £5million-a-game,” Plumley told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“That was the marker pre-pandemic when the last set of figures were available.

“Of course you’ve got the caveats linked to this one. It may or may not sell out and hospitality income will possibly not be as high because some of those eyes will be on the World Cup.
“Based on that ballpark, it could still generate you, if it’s a good attendance gate and you link it to what Arsenal normally get, that would be another couple of million. £2million is not outside the realms of possibility.
“That’s a good figure to add to the revenue for this year. An extra game and a glamorous fixture means it’s another couple of million quid for Arsenal.”
Arsenal return to Premier League action on Boxing Day when they host West Ham at the Emirates.
They have 10 players representing their respective countries at the World Cup.
