Finance expert reveals if Everton’s PSR problems are still alive and if they’re able to spend in January
Everton will have the financial power to fix their problems in-front of goal in the January transfer window.
That is according to football finance expert Dr Dan Plumley who exclusively told Football Insider that Everton‘s previous financial issues will not continue to hold them back.
Everton spent £27million on Villarreal striker Thierno Barry in the summer transfer window, but the 23-year-old has yet to score for the club, whilst Beto only has two goals in all competitions this season.
Midfielder Idrissa Gueye and defender Michael Keane were the goal scorers as Everton beat Fulham 2-0 last time out in the Premier League to leave them 13th in the table.

Everton will have ‘numbers in their mind’ amid January spending
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Plumley believes Everton are in a good financial position to spend in January compared to previous years.
“I think whether they will or not remains to be seen, and they’ll have the numbers in their mind about how much they want to spend,” Plumley said.
“Of course, the January transfer market’s always tricky as well because players are at a premium, and everybody who wants a striker, you know, you’re gonna have to enter the market, and it’s gonna be a bit chaotic.
“The thing with PSR and Everton, and they’ve had their troubles, the new ownership coming in and the way they structured that, it’s not wiped the slate clean.
“They still got problems, but they’ve had a big restructure of the balance sheet, a lot of the debt problems that was linked to [Farhad] Mashiri has gone.
“They’ve got to be mindful of not generating huge losses for sure, but they’re in a different position now with that takeover with the new stadium and the revenue that’s generating them above and beyond what was possible at Goodison.
“So it’s not like they can open a blank check, well not many clubs can’t nowadays, but if they did want to spend, they are in a position to do that.
“And, of course, again, that links to Premier League security and stability, and that goes alongside with it.
“So they are in a better spot to spend, but they’re not gonna be spending hundreds of millions.”

Everton line up January targets
Everton could resign Spurs forward Richarlison to bolster their attack in January, whilst former Brentford striker Ivan Toney could also be an option for the Toffees.
Toney is currently playing in Saudi Arabia, but could return to the Premier League in a bid to further his World Cup chances with England.
Everton have missed 16 big chances in the Premier League this season, and have a shot conversion rate of 9.8%.
