Finance expert salutes Amanda Staveley as £10m Newcastle United deal imminent – ‘this is the best’
An out-of-court deal in the lawsuit with former Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is the best possible outcome for Amanda Staveley.
That is the view of finance expert Dr Dan Plumley, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the ongoing lawsuit between Staveley and Ashley regarding a loan taken out during the Newcastle takeover.
Football Insider sources revealed last Saturday (31 December) that Amanda Staveley is now confident of reaching a settlement in a lawsuit over a £10million loan from former Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley.

Staveley played a major part in the £305million takeover of Newcastle in 2021, which ended Ashley’s 14-year spell in charge of the Magpies.
Ashley lent the 49-year-old director cash as part of the takeover, which in turn gave Staveley’s company PCP Capital Partners a 10 per cent stake in the club.
However, the terms of the agreement stated that new owners would not disparage Ashley’s running of the club – an agreement Ashley argues Staveley broke by immediately stripping St James’ Park of all Sports Direct signage.
Plumley believes an out-of-court settlement is best for all parties involved.
“Absolutely it’s the least costly option for both parties,” the finance expert told Football Insider.
“If you can agree a settlement out of court it’s almost always the best route for both parties.

“That’s what’s happened here and it’s the best thing that could have happened for everyone involved.
“It comes down to cost, time and effort really. They’ve agreed to a deal outside of court and can move on.“
