Finance guru: Liverpool set to bag ‘£10m-plus’ as deal struck that Premier League chiefs will love
Liverpool could earn “£10million-plus” from July’s exhibition match against Man United in Thailand – and Premier League chiefs will love it.
That is the view of finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Merseysdiers’ global pulling power.
Liverpool announced last Thursday (31 March) that they had agreed a deal to meet arch-rivals United in the Centenary Cup in Bangkok.

It is the first chance the Reds have had to embark on a lucrative overseas tour since the outset of the pandemic.
Plumley claims that Liverpool will receive a major windfall and be in the Premier League’s good books for “flying the flag” in Thailand.
“It’ll easily be a few million if not £10m-plus,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“Based on those numbers, you can easily see why these clubs do it.
“It helps to engage with the wider fanbase as well. These clubs have got big followings overseas.
“We know the territories that the cubs are targeting, and the Premier League is targeting the same places from a broadcasting point of view as well.
“It helps relations between the Premier League and the clubs if they are going out and flying the flag.
“It’s no surprise to see them going out and doing this given the fact they haven’t been able to do it in a few years.”

Liverpool earned £217.6m in commercial income in the 2020-21 financial year.
The club opened a new megastore in Thailand in May last year.
