Finance guru: Liverpool stand to benefit from ‘£400m+’ deal
Liverpool stand to benefit more than most from a new Champions League broadcast deal, according to Doctor Dan Plumley.
The football finance expert, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, expects a new agreement to surpass BT Sport’s current “£400million per season” deal.
The TV rights for the reformed Champions League between 2024 and 20027 will go out to tender this month.

According to the Daily Mail‘s Matt Hughes (27 May), Uefa are hopeful Amazon will make a big play this year having broadcast the Champions League in Germany for the 2021-22 campaign.
BT Sport have held the rights in the UK since 2015.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs how an increased broadcast deal could effect the likes of Liverpool, who have historically performed well in the competition, Plumley said: “The current deal is £400million per season and BT Sport have exclusively in that.
“If Amazon are interested in that it might drive up the price. It could. be a bigger deal based on that.
“It will be a bigger deal anyway because there will be more games in the newer format. You expect a rise no matter what.

“Under the current structure English clubs take more from the Champions League pot because the English league is so strong. It is the strongest in Europe.
“Liverpool stand to benefit more from an increased deal on the basis of their recent history in the competition.”
