Finance guru: Man United are ‘not delivering’ after £238m development
TeamViewer have decided to end their partnership with Man United because of the team’s performances on the pitch.
That is according to football finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the announcement from the software company.
In their second quarter statement (3 August), TeamViewer revealed they would not be renewing their £47.5million-a-year deal with Manchester United.
The two parties signed a five-year contract in March 2021, but after just one season TeamViewer have decided the deal is not delivering a full return on investment.
Plumley claimed Erik ten Hag’s side’s performances are “starting to cost” the club commercially.
“It is certainly driven by on pitch performance,” he told Football Insider.
“Commercial sponsors want to be associated with big teams but strong teams. If you are partnering Manchester United you are buying into that idea of success. You want them to be winning trophies. United are not delivering that at the moment.
“It is interesting that TeamViewer are pulling out of a deal that is four years down the line. Perhaps they can see how long the rebuilding process is at Man United.

“Team Viewer is also a niche product in a niche market. They have got their own considerations.
“The wider picture here is linked to their on pitch performance though. They have not hit the heights over the last few years. It is starting to cost them.”
In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed Man United must solve an ‘outstanding’ £223million issue as takeover on the line.
