Finance guru: Newcastle United take control of ‘very lucrative’ documentary plans amid latest twist
Newcastle United could cash in on documentary content after the club hired their own production team to film progress after their takeover.
That is the view of finance expert Dr Dan Plumley, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the potential impact a documentary could have on the Tyneside club.
Newcastle have thrived since their £300million Saudi-backed takeover in 2021, with the Magpies sitting as high as third in the Premier League table this season.

It was reported in the summer (13 August) that Newcastle were set to become the latest ‘All or Nothing’ documentary via Amazon Prime, but the rumours are yet to be confirmed.
In the meantime, the Daily Mail reported on Friday (6 January) that Newcastle have hired their own production team to start filming footage of the club’s progress, with future plans to sell the rights to streaming companies.
Plumley wasn’t surprised by Newcastle’s eagerness to start filming, with the finance expert explaining that it could be extremely lucrative for the club.
“It’s something I expected,” Plumley told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“We’ve seen other clubs go down that road and have success with Amazon’s ‘All or Nothing’ series.
“We’ve also seen Wrexham’s owners do their own documentary now on Disney Plus.
“The story of the takeover at Newcastle and the wealth of that ownership group and where it has catapulted the club in terms of the global space was always bound to have a documentary behind it.

“So it’s no surprise to see the club on the front foot and taking control of something that will happen down the line.
“It can be very lucrative for the club and can also have other benefits such as raising their profile all around the globe.“
