Leeds Untied have confirmed that midfielder Madger Gomes has completed a permanent switch to join French second-tier club FC Sochaux-Montbeliard.

The Whites confirmed on their official website that the 21-year-old has sealed his exit from Elland Road after just one year at the club.

He joined from Liverpool last summer and made just two senior appearances, with both of them coming in victories in the EFL Cup.

However, the central midfielder has been miles away from the first team during the 2017/18 campaign and will now go pursue first-team football elsewhere.

The Yorkshire giants do have young midfielders in the shape of Kalvin Phillips and Ronaldo Vieira as first-team regulars, but Gomes was unable to fit into that category.

The Spanish playmaker has been unable to cut the grade in English football and will now try his hand in France with Ligue 2 side Sochaux, who finished mid-table last season in their league.
