Major fitness boost confirmed ahead of Liverpool clash v West Ham
Liverpool have been handed a huge blow with the news that Manuel Lanzini could return from injury and feature in the weekend’s Premier League clash against West Ham.
The tricky Argentine has not played for the Hammers in more than a month after he sustained a thigh injury against Bournemouth and has been sorely missed during a spell that had seen David Moyes’s side drop back towards the danger zone.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, as quoted by Football.London, the 54-year-old said that Lanzini “could” play.
Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren will need to be on their toes should the 25-year-old receive the nod from his Scottish manager.
Despite the Reds scintillating form in front of goal, at the rear it’s been a different story altogether, leading to cries for Jurgen Klopp to sort the problem area in the summer.
That being said, a win against the Hammers will see the Merseysider’s go second in the Premier League, for a day at least, with Manchester United not due to play until Sunday against Chelsea in the weekend’s showdown fixture.
Lanzini, 25, has previously been linked with a move to Liverpool so it will be interesting to see how he does get on against Jurgen Klopp’s side if he does play.
