No place for Gazza and Cooper in five greatest-ever Rangers players

5. Andy Goram

There was a point in the mid-90s where Andy Goram was the best goalkeeper in the world.

The man known simply as ‘The Goalie’ was that good that former Celtic manager Tommy Burns once joked he would have “Andy Goram broke my heart” inscribed on his gravestone.

Despite being short, a bit overweight and having two bad knees, Goram was quite simply unbeatable at times and was as valuable to Walter Smith’s nine-in-a-row side as any outfield player.

The Gers have consistently had good goalkeepers but in Goram they had one of the very, very best.
