3. Ron Saunders
Saunders kickstarted a golden era for Aston Villa when he joined the club in 1974.
Like Taylor, Ron Saunders led Villa to promotion from the Second Divison as runners-up in his first season in charge, ending almost a decade outside of the top-flight.
That same year he won the League Cup before winning the domestic competition again two years later.
Saunders developed the Villains into one of England’s most feared teams before eventually winning the Division One title in 1980/81 before resigning due to a contract disagreement.
