Salah is a long way from No1 spot: Five greatest Liverpool strikers named

5. Mohamed Salah

2017-18 (47 appearances, 43 goals): A surprise inclusion, in one way. Others will rail that that he is so far off top spot. The numbers are ridiculous – 43 goals in all competitions with a month of the season still remaining – and the performances are as jaw-droppingly astounding as the ice-cold finishing. Assessments of the best players in the world have for so long been reduced to who should be number three behind genius duo Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Naturally, those two have been brilliant again this season, but neither can hold a candle to Salah right now. He was sensational against Roma in the biggest match of Liverpool’s season. They were frightened to death of a player they knew inside out. It was a performance that will go down in Liverpool folklore. But there is a sense that the best is yet to come for the Egyptian king. If he stays at Liverpool for the next half-decade, he could go down as a club legend.
