Five Leeds United stars now playing for their future ahead of the summer
Leeds United are in the fight for promotion to the Premier League this season but a handful of stars are also fighting for their future.
The Yorkshire side currently sit at the top of the Championship table after extending their superb run of form with a 2-0 win over Millwall.
Leeds are expected to be busy in the summer transfer window if they do achieve promotion, with new owners wanting to make their mark at the club.
From fringe players looking to avoid the transfer list to star players eyeing up a big move, Football Insider takes a look at five Leeds players currently playing for their future.
Liam Cooper (32)

The 32-year-old may be the club captain, but there are huge question marks over Cooper’s future.
He is out of contract at Elland Road in 2024 and is no longer a guaranteed starter in the heart of defence.
Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu have formed a formidable duo under Daniel Farke and while Cooper’s presence in the dressing room may be appreciated he is under huge pressure to prove his worth on the pitch.
Joe Rodon (26)

Another centre-back but in an entirely different situation to Cooper.
Rodon has been a standout performer for Leeds since completing a loan move from Tottenham in the summer.
As revealed by Football Insider, Spurs are ready to accept a permanent transfer from Leeds if they table a deal in the summer.
The choice will likely be Rodon’s at the end of the season, but with his current form he could also have plenty of other offers on the table.
Connor Roberts (28)

Roberts is another loanee who has made a strong start to his life in Yorkshire.
The Welsh defender joined in January for the final six months of the season and, while a permanent move for Rodon looks inevitable, the same cannot be said for Roberts just yet.
As reported by The Athletic, Roberts is “hopeful” that his loan move will become permanent in the summer.
He has a few weeks remaining in the season to convince Farke and the Leeds chiefs that a deal should be struck.
Junior Firpo (27)

Firpo started the season out of favour at Elland Road but he has fought his way back into the side and appeared in all of the last 14 league matches.
However, the jury is still out on whether he is the long-term solution to the left-back position at Leeds.
A new left-back is likely to be one of the top priorities over the summer window and it’s up to Firpo to prove that he deserves to keep his spot.
Wilfried Gnonto (20)

After being heavily linked with a move away last summer, the future of Gnonto is still in doubt.
He has hit form just in time for the business end of the season with six goals in his last nine matches but that will also catch the attention of top-flight clubs.
As revealed by Football Insider, Gnonto is one of four Leeds United players who have gained interest from Premier League sides.
Leeds may face a bombardment of bids for the 20-year-old winger depending on how well he ends the season.
