Football data analyst makes surprise prediction for Rangers clash v Celtic
Scottish football data analyst Dougie Wright has made his match prediction for the upcoming Old Firm derby, and he has surprisingly tipped Graeme Murty’s side to win the game.
Wright made his prediction whilst answering Twitter questions on the Clyde One Superscoreboard website.
“I don’t think either team will keep a clean sheet, and I think there will be at least three goals in the game” Wright said.
“Right now, Rangers are playing the better football out of the two: I think they’ll nick it.”
The Gers are currently in a fine run of form, which has saw them close the gap at the top of the table to six points but have not won against the Hoops since returning to the Scottish top-flight.
A win in Sunday’s game would narrow the gap to just three points, albeit with Celtic having a game in hand.

The first meeting between the sides this season saw the Hoops win 2-0 thanks to goals from Tom and Leigh Griffiths, whilst the second game was a goalless draw, with Scott Sinclair and Alfredo Morelos both guilty of missing great chances for their sides.
Football Insider verdict
It is’t really a shock that Wright is tipping a Gers win, as they have been playing good football in recent weeks, although the biggest test of the lot will come on Sunday. The Light Blues will at least go into the game full of confidence, which is a vast difference from the previous two Old Firm games this season, where supporters were just interested in making sure the Gers avoided a hammering. It will be interesting to see how the new January signings who helped to turn the season around fare in what is sure to be a highly-charged atmosphere, as the title race will most likely be just beginning or be over by the time Willie Collum blows the final whistle.
