Forget Dominik Szoboszlai, Liverpool star with one duel won was Arne Slot’s worst player vs Galatasaray

One Liverpool star put in a rare poor performance for the Reds as Arne Slot’s side lost 1-0 at Galatasaray in the Champions League.

Victor Osimhen netted from the penalty spot in the first half to hand Liverpool a second consecutive defeat in another match which exposed defensive vulnerabilities.

Dominik Szoboszlai was slammed for Liverpool as the 24-year-old struggled at right-back, with Slot moving Jeremie Frimpong further forward.

Goalkeeper Alisson went off injured, as Slot was dealt an injury concern ahead of the Red’s next fixture at Chelsea.

Ryan Gravenberch worst player for Liverpool in Galatasaray defeat

Arne Slot has transformed Ryan Gravenberch at Liverpool, and the 23-year-old is now one of Slot’s key players.

Liverpool are looking to tie Gravenberch down to a new contract, but the Dutchman had to be substituted with 30 minutes remaining against Galatasaray due to his poor display.

Gravenberch was overpowered in midfield, also committing two fouls and receiving a yellow card.

His replacement in midfield Alexis Mac Allister offered more going forward, with two shots from outside the box as Liverpool rallied for a late equaliser.

Gravenberch’s touch map against Galatasaray showed the midfielder mostly contributing in his own half, and helping Szoboszlai and Frimpong on the right flank.

The full-back positions are a current problem for Slot, with Frimpong also blamed for Crystal Palace‘s goal against Liverpool last time out in the Premier League.

Milos Kerkez also struggled on the left flank, winning just one ariel duel, two ground duels and not winning any of his two tackles.

Defensively, Liverpool have now not kept a clean sheet in five consecutive games, and Slot will need to fix that issue if the Reds are to win major silverware this season.
