Forget Edwards, these are next three Tottenham academy diamonds destined for first team

 Japhet Tanganga

A central defender who turns 19 next month, Tanganga has already been capped three times at England Under-20 level even though he is yet to be named in a senior Tottenham squad and has only been a mainstay for the Under-23s this season. The right-sided centre-half has come on in leaps and bounds in the last 12 months, with his powerful physique and commanding presence ideally suited to his defensive role. He was rewarded with a new contract shortly before Christmas in a demonstration of the club’s growing faith in him. Indeed, there are many at White Hart Lane who believe he has caught up with Cameron Carter-Vickers, the American powerhouse who was a regular in the first-team squad last season before being given the green light to go out on loan to, first, Sheffield United, and, then, Ipswich Town in the current campaign.
