Forgotten Tottenham attacker lined up by Dutch champions - report
Dutch top-flight champions PSV Eindhoven are interested in a move to sign Tottenham attacker Vincent Janssen, according to a report.
Dutch newspaper Eindhoven Dagblad claims that PSV are lining up the 23-year-old this summer, who they feel could be a perfect replacement for Luuk De Jong.
Janssen is a forgotten man at Spurs after spending the 2017/18 campaign out on loan with Turkish giants Fenerbahce, where he was unfortunate to spend five months on the sidelines through injury midway through the season
The powerful centre-forward struggled the season before in his debut year with Mauricio Pochettino’s side and it’s unclear where his future lies.
Football Insider verdict:
Janssen was beginning to recapture his best form at Fenerbahce before his injury and ended the season with five goals and four assists in his 18 appearances. Spurs need to try find competition for Harry Kane in attack next season and it remains to be seen if the Holland international can fill that role. Janssen is extremely good at holding the ball up and can also be clinical in the 18-yard box, but during his first season in England he struggled playing second fiddle to Kane. The North London club could consider giving Janssen a reprieve next season and at the age of 23 it may be wrong too completely write him off. Fernando Llorente failed in his role as the number two option to Kane in the 2017/18 season and it must be difficult to motivate yourself in that position. There is no doubt that Janssen has the potential to be a top player, but he may need to pursue first-team football elsewhere to reach his best.
