Midfielder sends message to Tottenham fans on Twitter after agreeing terms of deal

By Dominic Toner

Nader Chadli has thanked Tottenham fans on Twitter following his move to West Brom on Monday.

The Baggies announced the deal on their website on Monday afternoon as the 27-year-old joined the Hawthorns on a four-year deal, for an undisclosed fee.

It has been widely reported that West Brom will pay Spurs a club-record £13million for Chadli, who had been deemed surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane.

The Belgian midfielder had this message for Spurs fans on Twitter as he ended his three-year spell in north London.

The Mirror claimed earlier this month that Spurs had placed a £20million price tag on the 27-year-old, who cost them £7million from FC Twente in 2013.

But Telegraph journalist John Percy claimed on his personal Twitter account that West Brom had agreed a fee of around £13million, and said the medical should take place on Monday.

Senior players Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Erik Lamela have been the preferred options in Mauricio Pochettino’s side, with summer signing Vincent Janssen being slowly introduced into the first-team.

Chadli starred in 40 encounters for Mauricio Pochettino’s side last season in all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing five assists.

He has also made 30 appearances for Belgium, featuring four times at the World Cup in 2014 as the Red Devils were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Argentina.

In other Tottenham transfer news, the terms have been agreed on a £40,000-a-week deal as the club’s midfielder edges closer to the exit.
