Frank Lampard bursts onto the scene to be new Celtic manager as announcement made

Celtic are now on the hunt for a new manager now that Wilfried Nancy has been sacked.

It will be the Hoops’ fourth manager of the season, after Brendan Rodgers, Martin O’Neill and Nancy.

Shaun Maloney had previously been the favourite to take over at Celtic before the Frenchman’s sacking. However, these odds have since changed.

While O’Neill remains in the mix for the Hoops job, a potential shock appointment could be Frank Lampard, who is in contention according to the bookies.

Frank Lampard 10/1 to take over from Wilfried Nancy at Celtic

Lampard has had a stunning 2025-26 campaign to date.

The former Chelsea manager has recovered his managerial reputation in the Championship as he looks destined to lead the Midlands club back into the Premier League.

As a result, multiple Premier League sides have been eyeing Lampard.

However, now the bookies are not ruling out a surprise mid-season switch to Celtic.

One bookmaker has Lampard to Celtic as low as 10/1, making him the fifth-favourite for the job.

Who is the bookies’ favourite to take over at Celtic?

The current favourite to take over at Celtic is, unsurprisingly, O’Neill.

One bookmaker has the odds as short as 5/6 to return to Celtic Park in what would be a sensational twist.

With O’Neill already back in Scotland, it remains to be seen if the Hoops make a move for their former interim manager.

Maloney is now the second favourite at 2/1, while a return for Ange Postecoglou is also possible at 4/1.

Another outsider for the job is Kjetil Knutsen, who is currently the manager of Bodo/Glimt, and priced at 8/1 to come in.

The Norwegian has helped turn the side into a giant in the Eliteserien, with the 57-year-old currently aiming to win his fifth top division title.
