Frank Lampard has seen his odds in the race to become the next Crystal Palace manager shortened in the last few hours.

The Coventry City manager is set to take his side up to the Premier League as champions of the Championship, with seven games remaining to maintain a nine-point lead.

The 47-year-old took charge of the Sky Blues last season and took them to the play-offs, with several clubs noticing the progression his team have undertaken since.

Lampard is expected to be in the running for several clubs appointing a new manager this summer, including Palace.

The Eagles are set to lose Oliver Glasner at the end of his contract in June, after more than two years under the Austrian’s watch.

Football Insider exclusively revealed in January that Coventry will do all they can to keep Lampard at the Coventry Building Society Arena this summer.

The former Chelsea midfielder’s effect on the West Midlands club has been staggering, with a return to the Premier League now finally on the cards after 25 long years.

The Sky Blues were relegated in 2001, and spent 11 years in the second tier before being relegated to League One.

Eight years later, and they were back in the Championship, with this season finally set to mark their return to the top flight.

Lampard has reiterated his desire to stay at Coventry throughout the season, but it cannot be ruled out that his head is turned in the summer.

The likes of Palace will offer a bigger budget and a more solid foundation in the Premier League.

One major bookmaker has shortened Lampard’s odds of making the switch to the Eagles to 16/1 in recent hours, while Marcelino Toral (9/4), Thomas Frank (5/2) and Andoni Iraola (6/1) remain the front runners.
