Frank Lampard reacts to Kieran Trippier’s poignant Newcastle message
Frank Lampard has reacted to a message from Kieran Trippier after Newcastle United sealed Champions League qualification.
The Magpies suffered a 1-0 defeat to Everton in their final Premier League outing of the season on Sunday, 25 May.
But the North East giants still landed a top-five spot courtesy of Aston Villa’s controversial loss at Manchester United.
Eddie Howe’s men will enjoy their seat at the top table of European football once again next term, having also competed in the Champions League during the 2023/24 season.

Lampard reacts as Trippier delivers ‘proud’ Newcastle message
Trippier has played his part in Newcastle’s Champions League qualification by making 25 Premier League appearances.
Meanwhile, the former England international celebrated the Magpies’ achievement as he posted on Instagram [25 May]: “Final game of the season very proud as always to have my family there to watch and support.”
The emotional message attracted a like from Coventry City boss Lampard, while ex-Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given commented with clapping hands emojis and red heart emojis.
Anthony Gordon could join Liverpool
Partly thanks to Trippier’s services and experience, Newcastle have enjoyed a hugely successful season, winning the Carabao Cup and eventually clinching Champions League qualification.

But ahead of a European campaign next term, Howe knows that the Magpies must recruit well during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The fact that Newcastle finished seventh in the Premier League alongside their Champions League duties last season demonstrates the challenge posed by Europe.
But while Howe looks to strengthen his ranks in the North East, the St James’ Park outfit may also have to allow some of their current talent to depart.
Anthony Gordon has been consistently linked with a move to Premier League champions Liverpool, while former Everton CEO Keith Wyness exclusively told Football Insider that he can see the wideman moving to Anfield.
Losing Gordon’s services would come as a blow to Howe’s side, but the likes of Harvey Barnes have performed well this term while the ex-Everton man was injured.
