Frank Lampard reacts as Richarlison sends five-word Everton message

Everton players past and present have paid tribute to Goodison Park after Everton won their last match at their long-time home.

David Moyes‘ side gave the Grand Old Lady a perfect send-off against Southampton on Sunday, as Iliman Ndiaye‘s first-half double led them to a comfortable 2-0 victory on a day of emotional celebration.

Everton fans were given the opportunity to farewell veterans Seamus Coleman and Ashley Young, while Abdoulaye Doucoure’s second-half substitution raised questions over his future beyond this season.

A plethora of former Toffees players were in attendance as Goodison Park hosted the men’s first-team for the very last time, but the stadium’s legacy will live on after Everton Women move there this summer.

Everton sent Goodison Park message by Richarlison – ‘I love you’

Evertonians remain huge fans of Richarlison after his four-season spell at Goodison Park between 2018 and 2022, and the Brazilian forward has also made no secret of his fondness for Everton since his exit.

Stefan Borson told Football Insider on 8 May that Tottenham could well accept an offer for Richarlison this summer as they look to raise funds this summer, and that raises questions over a potential return.

Moyes was quit to shut down that very question in a recent press conference, but Richarlison’s delight at Everton’s progress and his admiration for Goodison Park was made clear in an Instagram post (18 May).

In the post, which was liked by current Blues striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin and former manager Frank Lampard – who sold Richarlison to Tottenham in 2022 – the Brazilian said: “I love you Goodison Park”.

Richarlison return could still happen for new-look Everton

Everton had no choice but to sell Richarlison to Tottenham in 2022 amid severe financial struggles at Goodison under the ownership of Farhad Moshiri, but things are very difference ahead of the summer.

Dan Friedkin’s arrival and the Toffees’ move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Liverpool’s waterfront will be transformational for Everton as they look to the future, and provide much-needed financial security.

As a result, a significant summer of activity is on the cards as several players prepare to depart, and with Richarlison seemingly “certain” to leave Tottenham in the upcoming window, the Brazilian could yet be seen in Everton blue once more.
