Frank Lampard to Chelsea update revealed amid Enzo Maresca exit news

Enzo Maresca has now departed Chelsea, ending weeks of speculation.

The former Leicester manager took over in 2024 and led the Blues to the Europa Conference League trophy last season.

However, in recent weeks, the relationship between Maresca and the board has soured.

This even saw Maresca publicly criticise Chelsea’s owners for failing to support him in December.

Now, the Italian’s time at the London club has come to an end, with Frank Lampard an outsider to replace him at Stamford Bridge.

Frank Lampard 14/1 to take over Enzo Maresca

Chelsea announced on 1 January that they have parted company with Maresca.

As a result, the Blues will be on the hunt for a new manager as they look to secure Champions League qualification.

One of the favourites for the Chelsea job has been Xavi, who has remained out of work since leaving Barcelona in 2024.

However, according to one bookmaker, Lampard is an outsider to return to Stamford Bridge for a third time in the dugout.

Previously, the former Blues star had spells in the dugout between 2019-21 and in 2023 as caretaker manager, with the latter being a massive failure.

Nevertheless, Lampard has got his managerial career back on track in recent years, with the former England international on track to return Coventry City to the Premier League this season.

Now, Lampard is 14/1 to return to Chelsea, making him the joint-eighth favourite for the role.

Who else is linked with the Chelsea job?

While Xavi remains the favourite, Marco Silva and Liam Rosenior are also considered to be in contention at 6/1 and 7/1.

Current Premier League managers Oliver Glasner and Unai Emery are also in the running, with both coaches at 8/1.

Following this, both Antonio Conte and Cesc Fabregas are linked with sensational returns to Stamford Bridge, with both managers being 12/1 to return.

However, it remains to be seen who they will bring in over the coming weeks as they look to get their season back on track.
