Frank McAvennie believes these two PL youngsters would join Celtic under Rodgers
By Harvey Byrne
Former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie believes that Manchester City youngsters Jason Denayer and Patrick Roberts could be tempted by a permanent move to Glasgow.
The duo are currently out on loan from Pep Guardiola’s cash-rich side with Roberts already at Celtic until the summer, while Denayer is playing for a relegation threatened Sunderland team, also until the summer.
Now, summer appointment Brendan Rodgers will be looking to improve on a very successful debut campaign in the next transfer window and he may scour the Premier League market for any future starts not getting a look-in at their parent clubs.
This led to one fan asking McAvennie on his personal Twitter account if Celtic should look for £10million plus Roberts and Denayer for club star Moussa Dembele from Manchester City.
But, McAvennie responded himself: “What about all three in the Celtic team?” alongside stating that the Hoops were becoming a top side under Rodgers and Roberts and Denayer won’t get a chance at City.

Denayer, 21, has made 21 league appearances for Sunderland this season, playing in the centre-back, defensive midfield, right-back, central midfield and left-back positions throughout the campaign.
Meanwhile, Roberts, 20, has established himself as one of the key part of the Celtic team this season with a return of 10 assists and five goals from 27 Premiership matches this season and the Hoops would surely be interested in bringing him back in a permanent deal.
In other Celtic transfer news, Alan Pardew has told how he tried to sign this Hoops star.
