Frankfurt set sights on signing Lindelof as Man United talks open – sources
Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt remain interested in defender Victor Lindelof as he opens contract renewal talks with Man United, sources have told Football Insider.
The 28-year-old has just one year remaining on his Old Trafford deal – but the club have a one-year optional extension clause.
Football Insider revealed on Saturday (17 June) that Lindelof has opened talks over a fresh terms sheet at Man United.
A well-placed source revealed that the centre-back “earned the trust” of manager Erik ten Hag after a string of impressive performances at the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
However, Man United are keen to add a new top-class defender in the summer window.
Football Insider revealed on Friday (16 June) that the Red Devils’ swoop for Napoli star Kim Min-jae is set to be hijacked by Bayern Munich.
Lindelof is already behind Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez in Ten Hag’s pecking order.
As such, it is believed he will have to accept a backup role in order to remain at the club.
A well-placed Red Devils source has told Football Insider that all parties remain happy with the current status quo as negotiations get underway.
But Eintracht Frankfurt are waiting in the wings and could look to pounce if talks break down.

Lindelof, who earns a reported wage of £120,000-a-week, made 35 appearances across all competitions in the 2022-23 campaign.
The former Benfica star has been at the club since 2017 but won just his first trophy in England when Man United lifted the League Cup in February.
